Guilt Trip

So I felt bad for not posting any pictures on here yesterday due to having so many to choose from and so I cheated and just gave you a link. But I feel some of the pictures need some explanations.

This first picture was not in my album but this was at Nikki's friend, Toms' apartment. You can imagine how happy it made me. =D Until someone came by to ask for whiteout and the wind or the door opening knocked all the cans down.

Also that same day, while hanging out with Nikki and Tom, Tom bet that I could not drink a container of garlic butter and lick it clean in under 2 minutes.

I did.

And I got a free 2-liter of Mountain Dew out of it.

Given I had garlic breathe for 2 days straight.

Nor worries, it is gone now.

Yesterday as y'all know was Easter and my roommates and I had a big feast!

It was quite festive looking.

My roommates and I made ham, potatoes, corn and had pineapple and rolls. Along with "sparkling cider" (aka 7-up and apple juice) and Koolaid (for us southern people).
(From left to right: Me, Jaide, Emily, Kaylin, Nikki. Jacquelyn went home for the weekend)

Pictures provided by the lovely Albert Sebright =D
Also that is Kaylin's cousin, Tanner creeping there off to the right.

After dinner we had Sunday Night Desserts!

We made Tye-dye cupcakes!

And this is how you make um =D
You have to split your cake batter into 5 or more different bowls and then add food coloring.

(Intervention!)

Below you will see Brett making a strange sign....

This was the sign I was talking about. If you make that sign at someone, they must do a backwards somersault.

But if they break your sign, you have to do 3 backwards somersaults.

Jaide and Emily ended up doing backwards somersaults most of the night.
(See Emily below)

Back to cupcakes!

Then you poor a little of each color into the pan.
Like so.

You can tell the guys helped with the pouring...

And then you bake um and POOF!

You have Tye-dye cupcakes!

And this is what they look like when you bite into them.
Awesome right?

And this is Tyler and Kaylin. (Tyler is Kaylin's boyfriend)
So he is around our apartment MOST of the time.

I think they are pretty cute.
This is them showing of the yellow cornstarch/water mustaches.

All in all, the was fun had by all!

I recommend trying this sometime. Invite a handful of friends over, tell them each to bring an ingredient and all work together to make a treat. You get to meet some new people and have lots of fun along the way. Don't forget to play a game or two.

Happy belated Easter! (Unless you're from Canada, then it still is Easter).

TOO MUCH TO HANDLE!!!!

Okay today has been intense between Easter dinner and Sunday night desserts.

For all of you, Sunday Night Desserts is a tradition of my roommates (Jaide, Emily and Kaylin) and we are continuing it this semester. Because I took lots of pictures, I am not going to post them all on here but give you the link to my facebook album.

The ones where people are doing somersaults, it is because my roommates have this game where the do the "A-okay" sign over one eye and then an upside "A-okay" sign over the other eye. If you see someone doing that, you have to do a backwards somersault. If you break their sign before they get to to it, they have to do 3 backwards somersaults. Between that, and playing the ultimate "Never Have I Ever" (where you switch chairs and whomever is without a seat is in the middle).....I am PREETTTTTTY cure the people downstairs probably don't like us anymore....

Tonight was a good dinner.

Happy Easter everyone!!!!

Easter is in the Air

Guess whose mommy is the sweetest mommy in the world! =D

MINE!!!!

She sent me Easter decorations:

1) She sent me garland with eggs, rabbits and flowers on them

Enough to put some over our kitchen doorway thing too.
(Don't you just love that quote? Haha)

2) She sent me an egg tree! (I've secretly always wanted one of these. Why? No clue!)

3) Bunny hanger in an egg
4) Easter egg dye! (my roommates were quite excited by this! and the decorations!)
5) Basket with fake grass
6) CANDY! (When picking up these boxes with my roommate, I told her that my mother better have put Cadbury Eggs and Reese's in these otherwise it wasn't really Easter...and she did! She knows me so well!)

7) Another bunny flag hanger!

Yup! So basically my mother is fabulous and I love and miss her very much!

Love all y'all too of course.

Happy last day of freedom
before classes start
(for me that is)
Happy Monday!

Findings: New Life

I have been here in Rexburg for a tad over two weeks now and I'm finally starting to enjoy it.

The first week I spent filling out application after application, turning them in only to hear they are not hiring (due to Rexburg being small and the amount of places to work being even smaller). You could probably sum up my first week here as: boring, tedious and frustrating. But no worries, things are looking up.

Last Tuesday (the 12th), I moved into my new apartment. One of my new roommates was already residing here; her name is Nikki and she is my actual roommate. It's always hard to explain the difference between your actual roommate and your fellow apartment-ates or people that share the same apartment as you. Either way she is my roommate. Given, she was not my roommate at first. When I first arrived, her old roommate was staying with her to keep her company so I originally moved to the back room. After getting along rather well though, I decided to move into her room.

I must say, we get along quite well. We are both short and tiny, as well as heavy sleepers, night owls, and from the East coast! =D (She is from Georgia!) She is a year older than me but on the same semester as myself after taking a year off after she graduated. She will be 20 in a few weeks and has NEVER had a party before (guess who is going to change that ;D)

All the same, her and I get along. Lately we have been doing most everything together. (I figure it is good to get to know the person you are going to share your living space with for the next four months, right?) Today we are going to go pick up her books and then attempt to go find our classrooms around on campus. (Sadly it is also currently raining).

(Okay I'll try to keep the rest of this post short)

Yesterday we had church for the first time as the BYU-I 1st Stake, 6th Ward. From what I saw, it seems we do not have any guys from Biddoulph (the guy dorms) in our ward but we are currently with Delta Phi (men's housing between my apartment and Colonial. See below).

Which makes me happy because that means less Pre-mi's. Which reminds me, since not everyone has moved in yet, we managed to fit our whole ward in one room for Sunday school. It was quite a feat and I was impressed, though hopefully it will be bigger next week.

In other news, two more roommates have moved in. Kaylin moved in four days ago, I believe. She is lots of fun, and though not from the South, she considers herself a redneck. She rides dirt bikes, four-wheelers and can play the didgeridoo!!!!! Yes, I know. Now that your jaws are dropped to the floor, pick um back up. Yeah so she is pretty much awesome! =D She's also our new Relief Society president. I think she is pretty great.

My other roommate here, is Jaide. I have yet to really meet her since Albert and I went to David Stephens' for dinner yesterday when she was moving in.

Do y'all remember Elder Stephens from 4 years ago? Well he is married now with a one month old baby boy named Benjamin. I got to hold the baby, hehehe, he was SO cute and very quiet surprisingly.

I guess the point of the this is basically to say I REALLY like my roommates thus far and I am getting extremely excited for this semester! (not so much class wise though).

Random side note, I have found that people who stay in Mountain Pines tend to always stay on the same floor so everyone seems to know at least a few other people except me. I am not complaining one bit though because this ward comes off as pretty awesome. (Our bishop looks like George Costanza from Seinfeld!) Yup, so I am actually very glad I switched floors and I am certain I will have a great time with my crazy awesome roommies.

Love y'all!
Mom did you actually read all of this?

For the Record

Albert and Bekah showed up at my doorstep this evening as a surprise visit. Also Bekah hadn't eaten anything in hours and Albert's apartment was being cleaned. So I got to actually use my pot and mac n' cheese and cups and silverware =D As odd as it sounds, it made me very excited!

All the same we enjoyed a lovely dinner and then watched Kronk's New Groove (Bekah hadn't seen it). And let me tell you, Bekah is awesome! She comes off rather chill at first but she is just as goofy and fun as our family. I had a great time chatting it up with them and swapping crazy stories. So for all the rest of the family, I'm giving you my word that she is, as Aaron would say, AWESOME SAUCE! (Sorry, I had to brag on her). She's really sweet and I completely approve. =]

In other news, I did my first ever sewing job as a college student. =D (And I know it won't be my last)

See? Sad thing is, I'm not even sure how those broke.
Poor sewing job I guess.

But I was ready for my work! Even turned on Toy Story 3 to watch while I worked.

One side completed, one to go!
Can you even tell that I fixed it? =D

This one is a tad more noticeable...
But hey I'm still learning =]

And for the record, I only stabbed myself once. =D
(I am proud of that fact)

Here's my handy dandy sewing kit given to me by no other than my fabulous mother! =D

Yup so there's some adventure for you. Is anyone else scared of sewing machines? (They don't like me.....O.o)

Off to bed now,
TTFN!

I think I may be going crazy...

It's a lovely Sunday afternoon and Rexburg is a ghost town due to it being "spring break/summer vacation" depending on what track you are on.

All the same, I was sitting on my couch minding my own business when I swear I heard the opening to "Lord of the Rings"!!! It was rather quiet and ghostly, probably because someone is watching it in a surrounding apartment.

But then it stopped....so maybe they turned their tv down?

Or maybe I am just going crazy.....

Either way, it's 4:40pm here and it has yet to snow!!! And there are no clouds in the sky to declare any chances of snow! =D

See? Sunshine! Notice the LACK in clouds =D
Yay for a day WITHOUT snow! =D

Also it got up for 45 degrees today! Woohoo! =D

So am I going crazy?
What do you think?

April 9, 2011

It's the small things that count

When was the last time you stopped to enjoy those small moments in your life?

Like enjoying some chunky peanut butter with a spoon and a blanket on the couch away from the cold.

Or the smell of lotion when you put it on.
And it reminds you of the beautiful day that awaits you.

Or the enjoyment of settling in to your new home.
Or at least getting excited about settling in soon.

The best is when you get a great deal on the best cheese.
Pepper Jack of course!

TWO pounds of pepper jack, what could be better?

(Aaron, I can just imagine you going to town on this block of cheese)

Getting some munchy food and lunch stuff (it's in the fridge, not pictured)
And getting a ride back from the store with 2 nice guys. Oh how I missed the nice people of Rexburg.

Finding a lost box is a great feeling!
Now to get pots and pans so that I can actually use this stuff is another matter..

The pretty day that awaits outside my window

Even when it turns into the largest snow flakes you have ever seen

I wish I could show you how large these snow flakes were
They were at LEAST quarter sized.

Doing laundry is rather pleasant and satisfying
Except for having to put it away...

Working out!
This is my "I'm going to feel this tomorrow" face but it's so satisfying knowing you're doing something good for your body. =D

And starting to pack up the few things you unpacked because you get to move in a few days =D
I am ready to unpack! I am ready to have a home again =D

The funniest thing by far is when my manger gives tours of the apartment or the girls (who will live here next semester) and their mothers/friends are moving their boxes in and they stop to look at this:
This is years of collecting/making earrings.

I am not a fan of subtle earrings. =D

I hope this makes you stop and appreciate the simple things in your life, whether it be the weather, a snack or two, the people you meet, a scent, finding something that was lost, future plans, clean clothes, working out or something you have created.

Crunchy
Peanut butter
is the
way to go!
Enjoy!

Picture Overdose

We went to the Festival of Color =D

Though it kind of looks like we were beaten up....

I promise we weren't.

We "lovingly rubbed powder on each other".

Later on in the week we went to Cafe Rio.
And ate the largest burrito I have ever seen!

It was heavenly,

as Rachel convinced me to use a super long straw as well,
So she wouldn't feel silly alone. That straw is pushed as far down as it will go.

Thursday we made Pizookie with Kelsey.
Yes that is mint chocolate chip ice cream, chocolate syrup and caramel, aka a heart attack.

And we ate it all!
No worries, her roommates helped us eat it too.

Rachel and I went to go see The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader

And found this:
A 3D model of the tower from Tangled!
It was quite impressive.

Albert at General Conference in SLC.

Very big, very pretty.
=D

And we went to get Thai after the first session.
This is my lunch, sadly I didn't care for it, but Jesse was nice enough to trade with me. =D

I found out I LOVE green curry!

Rewinding time, my sister made a fabulous dinner one of the first nights I was in Provo.
Cheese, ham, and apple on bread. With a mixed salad with dressing.

It was delicious!!!

Fast forwarding time:

Catherine and I got Sub Zero, Mountain Dew Ice Cream: YUM!!

And Cocoa Bean!

This was peanut butter icing, chocolate chips on a peanut butter banana cupcake.
It was to die for.

I also got another cupcake (because I was SUPER hungry) but Albert ended up eating it.

We also played Just Dance 2.
And got quite a work out from it.

I had a blast watching them dance, it was funny.

Jesse taught Albert what to do.

And the had fun, dancing like Russians.

See? Russian.

Now you just have to look at these next few in sync, to see how it works.

Catherine was happy that we were playing Just Dance =D

And enjoyed it =]

Beasts!

Tron anyone?

Family time is fun time =]
