More Surprises

So basically this guy right here is pretty much amazing.
I'll tell y'all more about him later, but for now here are the basics.
His name is Garett.
I met him through my roommate Nikki.
He's from southern California.
He just got back from serving his mission in Zimbabwe about a month ago.
He's very cute, fun, sweet and smart.
He's a bio major.
He likes to talk, walk and hike along with all board involved sports.

We've gone on 2 dates and they were pretty much awesome.

The first was a straw maze, followed by taking a walk
and enjoying white raspberry and hazelnut hot cocoa.

Today we hiked R Mountain with LOTS of wind,
shrubs and a gorgeous view over all of Idaho.

Yup so this is Garett. =] Might wanna remember his name,
I think he's gonna stay around awhile longer.

Why do we do everything backwards?
Because it is more amusing that way!

Unexpected

I love unexpected things.

I love coming to the Academy of Comedy and being surprisingly entertained.
(On campus comedy group; I expected them to be kinda lame, sorry!)
I love laughing my head off at said show.
I love meeting people in the most random ways
and then realizing hanging out with them is the best thing ever.
I love going to the Temple regularly.
I love when my classes get canceled.
I love Rexburg despite it being a high of 40 degrees here.

In general this week has been surprisingly great.

And I think it is only going to get better from here. =]

Life is pretty darn great!

I hope y'all are all having a wonderful time.

That is all.

Changing, Always Changing

I would love to tell you about how grand my weekend was, all the details of taking a walk with Haley, sleepovers with Haley and Rachel, going to the Temple 2 days in a row, one of those times my dear little brother was even able to join me. I'd love to go on and on about how after going to the Temple, my family showed up and I got to spend some time with them, and Rachel arrived from Provo, I got a letter from my dear friend Elder Michael Gmeiner, I went to dinner with my family and Rachel. We spent the evening chatting it up. Saturday after spending the morning at the Temple for the 2nd time I got to go to Mesa Falls with my family and friends. All in all it was a wonderful weekend. Not to mention a wonderful church, dinner with Rachel before she left and an evening chatting with Haley. It was wonderful. I could go into more details, but just know wonderful memories were made this weekend and I was grateful to spend time with those I was with.

I guess what I want to focus on is the idea of change. I am currently going through a change that even I cannot fully comprehend. I only know the Lord has much in store for me to learn and grow and I must work diligently to heed to His words and grow where is needed.

This is a change that is quite new to me. I have never gone through anything quite like this. Normally it is physical, emotional or more of a straight forward spiritual learning. This one though is very much blind, going in with nothing but faith and coming out as what the Lord wants me to be. It is challenging in ways words of this language cannot describe. I think we all go through similar things in our lives. We are faced with challenges that we cannot at present comprehend. This is the Lord's way of saying "put your trust in Me, and I will mold you into something better".

We all change and all grow. People come and go in and out of our lives and at the end of the day you have to take it for what it is and apply what you learned. It is not always easy. I feel more often than not it is difficult and unpleasant. It requires stepping out of our comfort zones in order to grow. For some this is easier than others but for myself it can be hard. I guess we all have to trust in the Lord at one point or another.

As it is said in the hymn "Come Thou Fount"- "Prone to wander, Lord I feel it. Prone to leave the God I love. Here's my heart, oh take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above". This is my time to give Him my heart and see where it takes me. I hope y'all are able to do the same sometime. It is quite an experience.

Those Little Moments

I had one of those moments, well more than just a moment.....but one of those things that just make your day infinitely better. A moment something like this from "Elizabethtown". Sorry about the captions and the wording is slightly off, but you get the idea.

One of those conversations that go on and on. It goes on while one of you is walking home from class, making lunch/dinner and doing homework. It continues while the other is out shopping and running errands, eating dinner and surfing the web. No matter whether you are peeing while on the phone or doing something else you keep talking about whatever the heck you end up talking about. And it's not until 4 hours later when previous engagements force you to hang up the phone that your conversation ends. But you know it's not really over, because one day you'll pick up the phone, give um a call and it will be like nothing changed. It will still feel like they left yesterday.

I love those moments. Those happy little happenings that make the world better. Don't you?

So pick up the phone, give someone a call and see where it takes you.
You may just surprise yourself.

If only the world were a little smaller
and you were a little closer
How different it would be.

The Good, Bad and Awesome

This weekend after a long hard week I decided to indulge myself.

With what may you ask?

Some good friends
Roman Holiday (found friends who love old movies as much/maybe even more than I do)*
And what is a good movie and friends without pizookie?

(Yes it was even better than it looks)

These are my B&W well educated film loving friends:
(Left to Right: Janae, Haley, Katelynn, Jenny, Myself)

To add to my joy, THIS fabulous girl is coming to see me this weekend!!!!!
Isn't she the cutest and prettiest and most amazing girl you ever did see?

I like to think so.

I am extremely biased though.
I haven't seen her since August and I am ready to party it up with her!

What would this world be without best friends?

Very sad for sure.

Speaking of which, I got to skype this kid last Thursday:This is Tyler in case y'all forgot.
He was here last semester rooming in Albert's apartment.
Anyway he's pretty much awesome and pretty hilarious.

On a side note: I cut my own bangs last night.

I'm not sure how I feel about them yet.

They might be good, but probably bad.
(Hence no picture)

Guess we'll see...

I want a cheese sandwich
Pepperjack is the way to go
Why are you hiding behind the couch??

*Thank you mom and dad for raising me on good movies!

Dream Big

Elaine S. Dalton spoke at our devotional yesterday.
She is the Young Women's General President of our church.

She said 3 things:
1) Dream Big
2) Step out of your comfort zone
3) Have confidence (through faith in the Lord)

He has given us so much.
She said "We must give up the plans we have for the the plans He has for us".

No matter what you're going through, He is by your side.

He is omnipotent and we must remember that.
We must write His name on our hearts over and over.
Never forget Him, He never forgets you.

Today is a gift
That is why it is called
PRESENT

Catching Up

Some things that have happened or been on my mind lately:

This talk here. I highly recommend reading it. It is one of my favorites. The image below is a small piece of it typed up and put with one of my favorite images of the Tetons last fall. I know I have showed this before, but this video (that goes along with the talk) is incredible and should be watched regularly.

It snowed last week. Not cool Rexburg, not cool.

Regardless, my roommates and I stood out in this for an hour to get sandwiches at Jimmy John's for a dollar.

Poor girl. Don't worry, the rain melted it the next day and it has been sunny all weekend (and actually feeling like fall now!)

This is what I miss it looking like:

I made pasta salad. It made for a great lunch, but bad breathe.
Guess who is going to brush her teeth before going to her New Testament class.
This girl! (What can I say? There are cut boys in that class and I can't be smelling like pasta salad around cute boys!)

For all those who heard about my fall in the caves, here is what my battle wounds originally looked like:

My knee looked better at first....

This was a few days later: This image doesn't do it justice.
It was much darker and more of a greenish/yellow/purple color.

I painted my laptop:

I went to conference with my family =]

Aaron slept in the corner of the room like a dog:

We thought it was pretty strange and funny.

I have had a great deal on my mind lately.

Pondering is essential.

I just remembered I have
Izzes! Oh the little things in life!

One Moment Please

Before I have to continue on in my crazy busy day I wanted to point out one or two things.

I love my family! Though we don't really look alike, I kind of love it.We are beautiful and I am blessed to have them.

I loved getting to see them this weekend and go to general conference, it was a dream come true for my parents. =]

It is raining randomly and suddenly and I love it!

Somehow all of this is making my crazy life a little easier.

Have a lovely Monday!

Mooooooo....cow!
Little kids are the cutest
I love my soon to be gummybear newphew
He's going to be SOO cute!

Just A Slight Difference

My scripture counter:

My family's scripture counter:

I'm not too far behind right?

And this is only because they missed a night 2 years ago:

You could say they have inspired me. =]

I'll catch up to them one day.

Conference weekend
with my WHOLE family
Wonderful.
