Happy Tuesday/Wednesday

I finally had some time to myself and decided to go on a youtube rampage and came across some music that I can only describe as: SUNSHINE music.

So here are two songs that I really love.

The first is "Brave" by Sara Bareilles.
Though to be honest I love the video just as much.
I hope you dance along with it.

The second is "Brighter Than the Sun" by Colbie Caillat.
Which really is just sunshine.

Hope you enjoyed those songs.
Happy Tuesday/Wednesday!

A Little Old Fashioned

Sometimes I think I should have been born in my parents generation.

Let's face it, they knew how to dance; swing, latin, ballroom, and everything awesome!

I recently learned how to do The Pretzel in swing dancing! I'm proud of myself. I think swing has to be one of my favorite styles. I might go to one the dance classes on campus to learn more awesome moves.

In my parents generation they had records. And I am pretty sure records were and still are one of the COOLEST inventions ever! I will never forget rocking out to The Carpenters with my mom and dancing around our living room when I was little. I'm pretty sure she even has some 45's. Mom you better NEVER sell those or I will cry!

For the record (teeheehee), my roommates and I have been listening to and sharing music from the 50's-80's these past few days. I got Melissa addicted to The Carpenters. Heck yeah!

And I miss snail-mail being the main form of communication. Don't get me wrong, technology is great, especially with family and friends being so far away, but I love letters! I am certain I have sent more letters this past year than I have received, but when I did get those letters, I felt special beyond reason. I am now currently starting on my 3rd book of stamps in the past year. (Told you I like writing letters). There is just something incredibly personal and sweet about a letter that no text or box of chocolate or present can ever replace. And if you want a letter, give me your address and I promise to send you something heartfelt and probably kind of silly.

Anyway, sorry to ramble, but you know I'm right. Letters are amazing and fun and there is something about letters that just beats all other forms of communication when far apart. Maybe it is because you know that person had to take time out of their day to sit down and truly dedicate time to thinking of you. They were caring enough to ask about your day and tell you stories and to really think what was worth putting into a letter for you. So I hope you go and write a letter to someone, you might just make their day.

And finally there was less T.V. then. Fewer shows (let's face it, there is a reality show for EVERYTHING now) and most of it is a waste of time. I think T.V. is one of those things I have slowly grown to disdain (minus a few shows). We could all be spending our time much better. We could be writing letters, doing homeworking, reading a book or learning a new hobby. Or this is a crazy one, you could CALL people on the phone, like phones were originally meant to be used for. When was the last time you called someone JUST to call them and see how they were doing?

I got a call from a friend last night just to talk and see how I was doing and it made me really happy. It was fun and helped strengthen a friendship. So next time you're listening to a song or watching some pointless show, think what you could be doing better with your time. Thnk back to the days when people actually danced, and sang about things other than heartbreaks and lust. Think about someone else, make a call, write a letter. But don't waste what is given to you, because there are so many great things about there. Take advantage of the simplicity of how things used to be. It might just make a difference in your life and someone else's life.

He didn't humans social
so that we could be alone.
Make a call, reach out.
I'll reach back.

Strange, weird, odd? Maybe.

Odd things have been happening lately.

Like I got a cut from a plastic bag...

I guess you would call that a plastic bag burn?
What is the world coming to?
I think I am going to start going green to avoid getting injured.

Sometimes I have weird cravings.

So I grab a spoon and some crunchy peanut butter,
And go to town. Afterward I normally want pickles.

Weird?

Yes.

Yummy?

ABSOLUTELY!

And sometimes I spend the WHOLE day yawning even though I got a good night sleep,

this is when I am grateful for Mountain Dew =]
(The peanut butter & Mountain Dew pictures were provided by: Aaron Sebright, messing around with my camera when he was bored)

But I am not very lady like...

I tend to be kind of messy......=]

But peanut butter is worth it!
Despite that it has twice as much fat as it does protein....

What makes me happier than peanut butter?

APPLE IZZE!
And making weird faces =]

But you know what makes everything all better when you're being moody?

HAPPY LOUD MUSIC!

and crazy silly dancing to go along with it! =D

While doing said dancing, I had a sudden realization....

I AM REEEEAAALLLLLY SKINNY!!!!
See???? I mean I always knew I was a twig because everyone has told me so, for as long as I can remember. But I finally understood what everyone has been telling me my whole life.

I turn sideways and I pretty much disappear!

I remind myself of the dad on The Proud Family (I only watched it when I was SUPER bored and literally had NOTHING ELSE to watch) because when he would turn sideways he'd disappear. That is me in a nutshell. And I finally understand my tininess, but don't hate me for it, blame my mother, it's her genetics. (I love you mom!)

In other news...

I can finally see my desk!
(P.S. I cleaned it off!)
Well I can see half of it anyway.....
which is 1/2 more than I could see before.
(Given, I leave in 3 weeks so it matters THAT much right?)

As if you didn't know,
I love my ihome.
Making my mornings/days better since last year in June. =]

I love these buttons.
"I love you" is priceless in every language =]

All my crazy dancing made my hair look kind of messy
And I kind of liked it =]

I have had this shirt since I was...
.....young....er.....and it still fits,

Lets just say I haven't grown in several years....

Finally, go get some Izze's RIGHT NOW!
My favorite is Apple, Blueberry is a close 2nd and Pomegranate is 3rd. If you haven't had some, you haven't lived. =[ And they are good for you! They sell them at Whole Foods, meaning they MUST be healthy right? =]

Go watch a Disney movie
Bury yourself in pillows & blankets
Take a nap
Get excited over a chocolate sandwich (Nutella)
Have a sword fight
Play some mario kart
And have story time before you fall asleep

It's a beautiful day and nothing to do....

So I am blogging! Woohoo!!!! I really have no idea what I am going to write so we'll see what happens. I've been in a rather "deep thinking" mood lately and last night I spit out a great deal of my thoughts into my journal for several hours. I almost considered posting it but changed my mind because I rather talk of much sillier things..... Like chocolate chip cookie bars! Guess who has been craving them.....ME and I have more than ONE day off this week to make them.....YAY!!!!!!! *cheering with hands clasped, waving from side to side*

Anywhoo.....I have decided to write my thought process in a few minutes:

To start, it is gorgeous out today and I REALLY wanna take pictures but all my "models" are preoccupied with work or school. =[ I am tempted to dig out my remote and shoot myself (wow that sounded odd....), I have only ever done that once....and the pictures turned out well I think. Maybe I should.....but then I'd feel vain and that is no good.....but it's pretty out, a lovely 45 degrees! Given there is wind but I can't complain, it's warm enough for me. Glad I'm not in Idaho right now....

Though I do LOVE Idaho. Ah Idaho....good times.....6 1/2 weeks until I go back! I like to think it is Friday and then I can round down to 6 because 6 seems SO small, but 7 seems big.....why is that??? Weird. Ah but weird is good like the awesome weird and AWESOME music Yutsil gave me today! Though it didn't all transfer, I'll get the rest Thursday. I am psyched after the first mix she made me. My music library is gonna rock! And then I can dance around like a total goof and have a blast while doing so. Ah I want a dance party!

Maybe if Kris isn't busy after work we shall have to go have a mini little dance party with our silly selves like we did 2 weeks ago when we went downtown. Random little dance parties are the best. The carefree, "I am having fun so deal with it" feeling is great and worth the silliness. Besides, why do we ever care about what the strangers that we'll probably never see again think about us anyway? Exactly, we shouldn't care. And that is why I love goofing off, plus everyone is secretly jealous of all the fun you're having while they're miserable and boring.....well that or that you're a crazy loony.

But yes, actually Yutsil would dance with me too. She is adorable, I wish I was as adorable as she is. I also wish I could sing like her but that is for another story for another day. I love hanging out with her. She's one of those people you can sit down for hours and never have a moment of silence but also never have a one way conversation (yes I know I can talk anyone's ear off except maybe my Aunt Bobby or my mother). But Yutsil is one of those few people that can keep up with me, and puts in equally as much to the conversation as I do and we NEVER run out of things to talk about ever. In all honestly we ALWAYS run out of time before we run out of things to say. Do you not love people like that??? All the same, it helps that she has a very similar mindset to me in beliefs, in morals and all around girly yet somewhat logical topics. I mean we still disagree like normal human beings but we don't fight over anything. Overall I am wondering why I didn't get to really know her sooner and hoping we stay good friends. I'm glad I'm getting to know her now though, even if it's bad timing but heaven knows I seem to make friends with people at the last minute more than not lately.

But yeah I guess that is just what is on my mind today. That and I think I may go hang out with my mother. Gosh I love her! She is amazing and more than anything I just wanna hang out with her all the time lately but it seems our schedules tend to conflict. =[

But we did get to watch Revenge of the Bridesmaids on netflix today. (Catherine go watch it RIGHT NOW!) Everyone else, well....watch it if you're a girl or don't mind somewhat silly chick flicks.

Yeah that's life. Hope you're all having a WONDERFUL DAY! Smiling for 10 seconds will make you and everyone else feel a little better. SMILE!!! Life is an adventure, enjoy the happy moments and learn from the hard ones but don't ever give up. And at the end of the day I hope you've learned and laughed.

I'm awake in the afternoon
Fell asleep in the living room
It's one of those moments
When everything is so clear

A lesson learned...

Monday we (being all my roommates) decided to have a movie night. SO we went to Redbox and agreed upon "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" and "The Fourth Kind"......man did we make the biggest mistake ever. The two lamest, dumbest, just overall crappy movies I have ever seen. I wasted four hours of my life that I will never get back....but oh well. So the lesson here? We should always have our guy friends over because when we try to watch movies, we will kill our brains with stupidity whereas having guy friends over, we laugh and burn calories and actually enjoy life.

Yeah we learned our lesson; Bill and Brent come over pretty much daily even if it's only for an hour. Lucky for them, their dorms are pretty close so they can run back in time for curfew.

In other news Alisa turned 18 YESTERDAY!!! SO we made a crazy poster for her, and got 3 helium balloons! And we're having the party for her Friday night, with confetti cake and cream cheese icing and lots of guys...we don't really have any girl friends outside our own apartment....oh except this girl Nicole in our ward. She's pretty cool. And Katie came over and heart-attacked Alisa's room. For those that don't know, that means putting hearts everywhere! She also attacked the hallway, living room closet and front door...to leave a trail of course.

To add to the news, we changed out living room around (pictures up later). The long couch is in front of the closet because we don't really use it except to store stuff we won't touch until December. The table is where the long couch is and the little couch is in the corner where the table was. We got a red clock for our living room and Rachel found a red stand-up lamp for $3 at walmart and that is behind the little couch. We also got an Anberlin poster and a poster of Puss in Boots looking OH SO CUTE! So yeah our living room rocks now! and we got some fake flowers in a plastic vase for out kitchen table, to add a little color to it.

Oh and I made Pizza Chicken for dinner last night and it turned out great! Considering I was guessing on temperature and time, it was perfect and devoured by all, along with steamed broccoli and shell noodles. =]

Today has been pretty dull so far, I overslept and woke up at 10am. I missed German but I am not too worried. We have yet to do anything big and today was the last day to change classes so we probably got more/less people. Photography was a nice review of F-stop and shutter speeds. And I started craving medium format because my teacher was comparing it to 35mm film...but that's okay, I still love photography.

I also started listening to my Ipod when I walk and love having a soundtrack to my life. Though sadly it makes me want to dance, but alas I can't without having people stare at me and for those who know me, I don't like to be the center of attention in crowds of people that I don't know...but yes music is awesome and gives me a little hop to my step, whether going to a class I like (which is all of them except American Foundations) or coming home from a slow class.

Mostly I am excited for my photography lab tomorrow, though we are only going over the camera and loading film I love hearing about it and knowing at least one other person can also speak my language of photography. That and shooting film is fun, it is a bit slower paced than digital and makes you think about what you are shooting. Sorry I am beginning to ramble...I could spend days in my own language and world but I will not bore you with things you don't understand.

I think I shall go make dinner now and maybe unload the dishes if they aren't already.

Oh one more bit of news! So my Book of Mormon teacher is challenging us tomorrow to read the Book of Mormon in two weeks. Now lift your jaw from the floor and before you say or think "Are you crazy?" Though yes I am, that is not the reason and does not relate to why I am doing this. But I figure, I was able to read 100 pages a night of The Fountainhead, Whethering Heights and other books, then why can't I do this with the scriptures? You say it is packed full of information and of course it is, but it too is a story and when we spread out the scriptures, sometimes it is hard to see the big picture. So I am really excited to try this, I know I can do it and can't wait to dive into the story head first. So I hope that gives you some clarity into my thoughts. And that will start tomorrow and I couldn't ask for a better challenge to help me grow.

Okay so forreal this time, I am off to make dinner, I am SOOOOO hungry!

Dance to your own beat,
create your own style,
be yourself.
