Last Night With A Family Of Misfit Girls

Not really, but we are all quite unique in our own ways. but before I get too deep into the sentimental world of my roommates, just a quick story of my ego and confusion.

Alright so yesterday Cacia and I went to the store to get tubs to pack stuff away and we come back to Rachel being the only one home and asleep. Cacia starts working on her present for Alisa and I help some but mostly I am bored and hungry. So Drew and I decide to hang out.

We were going to go to a movie but none of them started until 9 and we had an hour to kill. Me being moody and craving stuff wanted a BURGER! Considering I have had only ONE burger this semester....and I had already been to Sammy's before. So we decide to go to this place called "Big Jud's" 15 minutes out down this never ending road until you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, but you're sort of in a neighborhood.

But I digress, we end up getting this 1lb hamburger that is HUGE, like 10 inches long and we split it. The more impressive part is we ate the whole thing, and THEN got ice cream on top of it. Now here is where my ego comes in, I ate just as much as Drew and he is 5'10" and twice my weight. Heck yeah I am a fatty! But my confusion is WHERE DOES IT GO????????? I look at myself and my stomach doesn't even so much as blurp out a bit. I have no clue.....this mystery intrigues me! I have no idea where it goes or how it fits in me and if you saw that burger, it looked bigger than me. All the same as we were leaving it was snowing like crazy and Drew has a stick shift so we had to drive crazy slow but that's ok because we still had our ice cream to eat anyway. We ended up missing our movie but we both had homework so we both went back to our apartments. But it was fun and I still can't believe I ate half of that huuuuuge burger.

Back to my darling roommates.

Cacia is the ball of energy, she is hyper and always bursting with joy. Even when she is angry, she seems happy! I am not kidding. I was sitting in my room the other day and I hear her say "I am so angry!" but in a tone where you would think she just found some cookies. All the same, I love being around her because then I am bubbly too.

Alisa is a worrier. She is probably the smartest of us all school wise but she is always worrying about where things are, when to get them done and all that. She also is kind of spazzy and freaks out easily which adds greatly to our entertainment. Between her and Cacia, the laughter never stops.

Rachel is straight up hilarious. If there is a joke to be made, Rachel is always on top of it. She has taught us all how to laugh at ourselves even when we are stressed. She is easy to relate to, so no worries about having deep conversations. She covers both funny and serious, which is pretty awesome.

Keely is the day brightener and kind of the glue that holds us together. She is our sanity when we all think we are going to go crazy from lots of pms and school work. She is the one that reminds us to breathe and have fun as well. Without her, I think we would all go insane in a bad way.

Nicole can be quiet at first. Like me, she doesn't open up easily but when she does, she is a blast. She is goofy and fun and has the cutest clothes ever! If I could, I would steal her wardrobe in a heartbeat. I could probably fit a good bit of it too. All the same, she is fun and just a joy to have around, reminding us, it's okay to let loose and be silly sometimes.

Sadly, tonight was our last night all together. Cacia and Alisa leave tomorrow. I am going to miss these girls immensely. They have taught me a great deal and I have been blessed to get along as well with them as I have. Though in moments of mood swings, we can all get under each others skin, at the end of the day, it's the chats at 1am about heaven knows what that makes it all worth it. Tonight all of us except Keely (She has an early class tomorrow) hung out in Alisa and Cacia's room and had a grand old time, bonding over whatever weird things girls can come up with at 2am. It was fun as ever and I am glad I got to share this semester with them. I am going to miss them but I know this will not be the last time I see them. They will always be in my hearts, sisters from across the country, I love these girls and they are my family here.

I'm in a sneaky spy mood

You know, like rolling around on the ground with your hands in the shape of a "gun"?

So tonight was our girls night, sorta. We watched "She's The Man" while quoting the whole thing along with the movie. Then watched some Pixar short films while eating Little Caesars pizza and crazy bread!!! And Strawberry Lemonade! =D Then we traded Christmas presents. Rachel got me the Rubix Magic. It makes me feel like a child again because I can't solve it.....but Nicole by accident solved it during out tithing settlement.....*random shuffling* "Hey is this what it's supposed to look like?"

Then we decided to act like spies and sneak around the MC (Manwaring Center). And we walked down to the new BYU-Idaho Center which will probably be called the I-Center. And we checked out the gym but then people in a truck came and scared us away and we skipped off down the hill, through the snow and taught ourselves to click our heels! =D If only there was music playing and we were singing, I would feel like I was in "The Sound of Music". =D

Coming through the parking lot, Nicole and I realized we could SLIIIIIIIIDE, yeah! =D So we slid all through the parking lot and then Rachel and I decided to be KIDS AGAIN!!!

So in Idaho they pile ALLLLL the snow from the parking lot into the corner and it gets HUGE! Then some CRAZY people decide to build tunnels through it that open to a big hole in the top that you can stand in and see out like a fort!! And Rachel and I played in it! It was AWESOME!!!!!! Yeeeaaah you know you are JEALOUS! Be oh so jealous! Then we decided the sidewalk was too boring and trudged/attempted to run through the 2 feet of snow on the grass, that got shoved there from the sidewalk. .....I know.....we are crazy. =D By time we got back to our apartment we were out of breathe and covered in snow.

Yeah so tonight was awesome, just sayin =]

One Thought At A Time

I feel like I have not written anything other than just random blips on my life here and there but honestly life has been rather plain this week, minus going to Taco Bell, playing video games for 5 minutes, going to dinner with the crew (roommates and the guys), and running errands with people. And of course your every day church stuff. Today I went to class, came home, slept, did homework, went to class again, came home, slept, and hung out with my roommates while doing homework. Oh and watched "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs". I love that movie! It makes me laugh =D And I hadn't seen it in months which made for a nice change.

Right now I am taking a break from said homework/studying to rest a little. I took two naps today and I am still tired. Yes I know, I am a crazy sleep deprived college student, what is new? But today I had an interesting experience. So twice a year I get these RIDICULOUS mood swings where I am pretty sure I would be diagnosed as crazy because one minute I'm fine, the next I'm extremely angry, then sad, then worried, happy, giddy, loud, quiet, loony, you name it, I go through it. And normally at home I just lock myself in my room for a few days until it passes. But here people expect you to interact with them. This is a BAD idea.

Luckily nothing has been permanently damaged though I do miss that punching bag at home, my right hook is rusty. =[ Nah it hasn't been too bad but mixed with sleep deprivation and caffeine, it makes for an overly hyper, bouncy kid version of me telling everyone in my phone that I love them to bits. Or as many people as I can fit into one text message. Yeah that happened for about an hour today, I'm not sure if I should be glad or annoyed that I was trapped in my math class today for most of it. We weren't doing anything big in class but it was alright.

But tonight was fun. Kind of a run down of what we did Saturday night (Cacia, Alisa and I). I guess I should tell you about Saturday night, it was quite amusing. Alisa, Cacia and I were hanging out, goofing off and they started talking about your natural laugh. Apparently to see your natural laugh, you lay down with your hands across your chest with someone on top of you. They push down on your arms just as you are breathing out and for some reason it makes you laugh. It is weird but it works! It's also funny to watch and laughing is addicting to the point where you're beginning to cry. The best part was it was 1am and Keely and Nicole weren't home. But they walk in with Cacia over Alisa and Keely's face is just pure shock and priceless. Keely looks at me and when I see her face of surprise I just bust out laughing until we're all dying with tears in our eyes and then Nicole walks in with the four of us laughing our heads off and she is looking quite confused which makes us laugh even harder. I am sure I am not portraying the moment very well but I promise, it was one of the best!

Then tonight Brent and Peter came over so us girls could play Call of Duty (though sadly I had homework) and after they left somehow we started reminiscing about this weekend. And the laughing game came up so Keely and Nicole and Rachel were like "I wanna try!" And then Alisa came out so we were all doing it and laughing until tears were coming out of our eyes. As Keely would say "I'm leaking!". I sure am going to miss these girls. Rachel has a deep grumble, so does Alisa, kind of like she is choking. Keely's sounds like some sort of cute animal, like a chuckle. Nicole and I sound alike in chipmunks that just sucked too much helium and are going to die from laughing. But according to Ariana Coombs, I laugh like mom. I guess that is a good thing since mom is so darn cute! But yeah I guess that is life.

Man I am really tired but I still have Book of Mormon homework to do. Yay finals.................yeah. I'll just drink some soda, I should be ok.

And I come home on Saturday! I am reallllly excited! I miss y'all crazy North Carolinian's. Y'all are completely amazing. Man I kinda wish I was mad right now because anyone who knows me, knows I am ridiculously Southern when I'm angry. Everyone here says I don't really have an accent but I don't sound like I'm from Idaho which is a good thing I guess.

Oh and just this weird random little pet peeve I've picked up. The word is FOR! F-O-R! Not Fur! It's only "fur" if you're speaking German. Get it right! I dunno if it's a Western thing or not, I never noticed it back in NC but it is FOR! OR, FOR!!!! BORE! CORE! You don't say "ur" or "cur" F-O-R. Yeah sorry I seriously don't know why but that has been bothering me to no end.

All the same, I love y'all so much and can't wait to be back in the South East <3 Ah geez, I am feeling so Southern right now that I want to leave the g's off of endings and make everything slang, but I won't for sanity's sake. But does it not sound so good to say "I live in the South East"? Middle of the Bible belt where people don't whack you for saying "ma'am" Seriously! Someone told me they got yelled at for calling someone "ma'am". I dunno, that was always respectful back home. But yeah, crazy people. Ah nostalgia, I am thinking in a Southern accent in my head right now. Like I just said "right" like Mrs. Maxey does. "That Riiiiiiiiiiiight angle". Yeah it's that many i's when she says it. All the same, I am off to go study the scriptures and ponder my life over this semester (I'm PRETTY sure that is what my homework says to do....)

Tis The Season To Sing To No End

Sorry I haven't posted anything in awhile, my life has been more than usually dull this week but today has made up for it all. Though I will back track to Friday night for a moment. Friday night my roommates and I played Quelf. (Yes that is a real game and from what I understand, it is much like Curses) I have never played that before though. All the same Quelf is a board game where you each pick a character and then take turns rolling a die. You go that many spaces and whatever
color you land on, you draw that color card. There are Green, Yellow, Purple, Red and Blue cards.

You are not allowed to read the green cards, someone has to read it to you, they'll tell you to do something or ask you a true/false question. Some cards are "Classified" which means no one else can read them, but otherwise someone else can read the card and often the card will tell whomever the 2nd reader is to do something as well.

The yellow ones are weird, I'm not quite sure what the point of them is, mine always said the same thing, just to sit there quietly and move on. (Oh also, if you don't do what the card says you have to go back however many spaces the card says).

The purple ones are crazy and random! You have to act out or do something. Like splash water on your face and then sing "My bonny lies over the ocean". Or you have to act something out, or people have to do something while you do you thing. Like one was where the person had to pretend to be a cowboy and people had to pretend to cry or pick their nose (but you can't tell them that they are supposed to do that, you just have had to play the game before to know, or they tell you after for next time you play).

The red ones are for everyone and will make you say things. One we had was different ways to cook eggs. You go around the circle until someone can't think of anything and then they pay the penalty (go back spaces).

The blue ones are weird. They are either community, for everyone, or for you. Examples for one person: Cacia and to sit on her hands, and talk like a preacher. Nicole had to ask her foot permission to speak if she wanted to say more than 3 words, or keep one hand on the ground when not her turn. Group Examples: If you're character was on the same spot as another character, you had to hold hands with that person. You mad to make a noise that you think your character would make whenever you move a square on the board. My favorite was if you made eye contact with someone you had to say "Trippy".

Basically that game is AWESOME! Except I am not very good at it but that is ok =]

Anywhooooooo today was good. I went to bed at 10pm last night! =D And didn't wake up until 11:30am this morning. But I needed it because the night before I didn't get to sleep until 4am because my throat was killing me. =/ I am doing my best to not get sick from Cacia and Alisa. But I felt much better this morning and now I'm just kind of congested but not too bad, just an icky cough.

All the same, my throat doesn't feel too bad and Rachel gave me medicine to take.

So Rachel, Nicole and I went to church and testimony meeting was good . Houston (one of my home teachers) bore his testimony and talked about how he doesn't like the poem "Footsteps in the sand" It talks about walking with the Lord, and Him carrying us when we struggle. But it is because of a scripture in Isaiah. Isaiah 46: 3-4. It talks about how if we let Him, the Lord will always carry us whether in hard times or not. And I thought that was rather cool of him to point out, how we must humble ourselves to let the Lord carry us.

Then on the way down to Sunday school (Church is in the Manwaring Center, where we had Catherine's reception, sacrament is upstairs and Sunday school and R.S. is in the basement near where the bookstore is at) Rachel wanted to go home but Nicole and I wanted to stay. Nicole and I walked down to the lobby, but stopped to wait to see if Rachel would come, but Nicole decided to go back up and get her and talk her into coming. I waited for them both, and while I did, a guy came up to me and introduced himself. His name is Drew and he's in my ward. He rooms with Colby (another guy in my ward that I met at the beginning of the semester). And then my roommates came, and we went down to Sunday school.

Sunday school is rough because it's Old Testament but it is good. Roll went around and it was pretty amusing. I noticed Nicole Harris reading the front of the list so when it got to me, I decided to read it as well. The first few guys (that also happened to be my home teachers and their roommies) has "single" next to their names. Farther down people put things like happily taken, married with 3 kids, divorced, widowed, living with 3 dogs and I have a crush on someone in this room. No really, people put all of those, it was quite amusing. And no I didn't put anything next to my name. Afterward a bunch of the guys went up to go look at what other people had put, crazy crazy kids.

Relief Society was good. Our president taught and I absolutely love her, she is a RM and you can tell, she is bubbly and full of life. She just brightens your day as soon as she opens her mouth and she taught on knowing Christ. She read a story about a boy that had written his paper on going to Heaven. You have probably heard this story before. he talks of being in this room with a walk FULL of files covering the wall documenting every part of his life. The more he reads of the bad things, the more he wants to destroy the room so no one can see it. Then Christ walks in and pulls some of the worst files and writes His name over the boys, red in His own blood. I had heard this story before but it hit me just as hard this time, and I cried. If you haven't read this story, go look it up, it is AMAZING. After crying my eyes out, my roommates and I went home.

Rachel walked barefoot because her shoes are rather knew and were giving her blisters, but the ground was worse. I came home and relaxed a bit. Houston and Gunnar (our home teachers) were coming for dinner so I knew it would be up to me to make something since the ones who normally cook were sick. Mother being as awe inspiring as she is, gave me the WONDERFUL recipe of Arizona Skillet Dinner, quick, easy, feeds lots and tastes AMAZING.

While starting to cut the onion I got a text from an unknown number and area code saying "Do you not have a facebook?" Being somewhat confused, I inquired whom this person was. Come to find out it was Drew (He got it from the BYU-I directory, which is a wonderful tool to stalk people with, I, myself have found all my FHE brothers from that, as well as my roommates). So I talked with him while making dinner. Sadly I kind of burned the onion whiling trying to saute them and start cooking the noodles. But it still turned out well.

Gunnar and Houston came over for dinner and I must say, I love my home teachers, they are AWESOME. The 6 of us (Keely came back while I was making dinner) had a great time, and everyone loved the dinner (thank you mother for being a genius!). It was all around one of the best dinners we have ever had, just laughing and it felt somewhat like home.

After dinner they gave their lesson. Houston asked if we remembered the scripture he had given in testimony meeting and between Rachel and I , we got it! Heck yes we pay attention in church, felt so proud! =D So he went off that and his favorite scripture, Mosiah 5: 12-13 which talks of service and having the Lord in our hearts. he gave a wonderful analogy of picturing each day like sand on a beach and each day the water comes up and washes everything away and it is up to use to write the Lord's name in the sand, in our hearts until it becomes permanent. I thought that was an amazing thought and just wonderful. Then Gunnar went on to talk of how service can be as easy as smiling and how he is part of this thing on campus called "Fight the Frown". Check out the link. Gunnar is the one in the tie-dye shirt. Overall it was a wonderful message and they left us all with giant grins on our faces. =]

Then Albert came over and chatted for a bit and then I got to talk to Rachel White on the phone. And I found out I got A's on my Portrait of Cacia and Subject Exploration projects!!! =D =D =D

Overall today has been wonderful with games, spiritual messages, a great dinner, making friends, good grades, and family =] Yup, I am happy with life =]

A Winter Wonderland Turns Adults Into Children

Life thus far:

I made brownies for Albert and my roommates

They lasted all of a few hours, or at least in my apartment and they were YUMMY

We had a movie night =D

And she three barrel rolled my hair. It's basically a fancy crimper.

Spooky ookie kookie! I want a cookie!

Okay so our ward Halloween party was Monday night and it was pretty cool. It had the classic karaoke, doughnut eating, cake walk and all the fun stuff. We had the COOLEST/messiest game ever though! Where you fill up lines of cups with water and have to blow a ping pong ball across the line to the end. It made a HUGE mess but it made for lots of great laughs =] But the real party starts when the camera is brought out...

I was a pirate and it cost me $0 =D The eye patch was made of a papertowel roll, construction paper and floss (didn't have string)

Random thoughts of Megan

I am quite happy with today so far, and here are a few reasons why:

1) I slept in! Now before you get mad at me for skipping German, I know for a fact I didn't miss anything important because now we are moving on to verbs, which are REALLY easy and also I NEEDED IT! All of my roommates get at least one or two days during the week in which they can sleep until their hearts content. But not me =[ I am up by 8am Monday through Thursday and then 7am on Fridays! So I needed it and it seriously made my week better already =]

2) I actually kind of learned something in photography! I guess I probably already knew it but it was a great review that I actually needed on lenses and focal range.

3) Devotional was on Temple attendance today which is good because I have yet to have gone so I need to get on that. But it also reminded me of this one time this past year when we went with the youth. During that time I was able to do the work of an older woman for her grandmother and great grandmother and afterward I was able to talk to the woman and she thanked me for doing their baptisms. It was a great feeling knowing I was able to be a tool in the Lord's hands to do the work for this woman so that her family may accept and enjoy the blessings of the gospel.

4) Also during devotional I saw the smallest, cutest baby girl ever! She was probably a few weeks old, with dark thick brown hair that stuck out in all directions. Her mother wasn't much bigger than me and the baby's head was not much bigger than my fist. She was amazingly quiet during the talk except for one or two little moans of sleepiness. It was so quiet I barely noticed but man, I swear EVERYONE within 15 feet heard and all turned to look at this tiny baby!!!! And being all kind-hearted softies, we all sighed and awed at the little thing. For some reason, that made me happy, maybe it's because most of the people I knew back home never want to have kids and that is sad. =[ Where as here, if there is a baby, we all just oogle at the darling little thing and are secretly dying to hold it and touch it's tiny hands and feet. Let's face it, everything tiny is CUTE, except for when it's candy (bite size is not "fun" size, fun size is as big as your head!) then tiny is just dumb.

5) I got to talk to Aaron after devotional and I got to hear ALLLLLL about his awesome day! I love hearing such news especially from Aaron since he doesn't usually say very much about his life.

6) My dear, sweet mother sent off a package to me today, even though I only barely asked her last night. And now I am going to have my warm fuzzy fleece blanket that I have been missing terribly! But not as much as I miss my dear mother and father and Aaron!

7) I came home to a clean kitchen! Alisa and Cacia did the dishes and mopped the floor. They did the dishes because they knew it would make me happy not to have to do them! And it did! =D =D (When I woke up this morning, we had NO cups, bowls or spoons. We had 2 forks and 3 knives. Seriously.) So I am EXTREMELY grateful to them for doing that! =D =D =D =D

8) We have banana pudding, I ate some for breakfast and it was HEAVENLY!!!!

9) I got to chat with Jared Hall for awhile last night, it was fun and I am going to see him and his family this weekend in Provo =]

10) Speaking of Provo......I GET TO SEE MY SISTER ON FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! (If you missed my last post.....let's just say that saying I am excited to see my sister is an understatement....)

11) I found my ipod!!! Surprisingly behind my bed since I never have it on or anywhere near my bed....but oh well. =]

Take your shoes off and just dance!

So this week I have learned the importance of music! Music changes everything, your mood and view of everything. I have gotten into a habit of listening to music when I walk places and the next thing I know, I have an extra hop in my step and and want to dance like life is one big musical! Ah if I could only dance around without people staring at me. Sadly I doubt my roommates would dance with me out in public....but maybe I should ask....=]

Well I guess I should catch you up from last weekend. Not much happened except Alisa's Birthday Party! SO here it goes, quick overview because I am LAZY today due to it being Friday afternoon.

So I got home around 4:30 from class and BAKED for several hours. Alisa asked for a confetti cake with cream cheese icing so I made the confetti cake, to find out her mom sent here German Chocolate cake mix and some weird nutty icing...however we only have one cake pan so we made the German Chocolate mix into cupcakes (which only the guys ate). So I made the cake and homemade cream cheese icing, and may I add, it was the most heavenly thing ever besides Reese's Peanut Butter Cups! I nearly just ate the icing by itself but alas the cake was barren and needed this heavenly creation. So Keely spead it on and then took dye and wrote Happy Birthday in purple and yellow! Happy colors =] Keely tried to take the cake out before we iced it, so we could make the other one...but it didn't work and broke in half, but she flipped it back and covered it up well. Couldn't tell until we cut it, and it fell apart...yeah

So we had cake and presents and we played "Do you love your neighbor?" I was only in the center once. Then we played musical chairs on our porch/balcony due to our apartment being hot from so much baking. It was pretty awesome and we got neighbors from all around to play with us. After that we went to Cajun Bob's which is just a dance place for Mormon kids but it was kinda lame so we went to Jamba Juice and drew pictures. After that some people were tired so they went home. But the rest of us (there were 8 I think) hoped into 2 cars and drove out into the middle of nowhere and went stargazing for hours and drew with light =] It was much fun!

Yeah, I know, not my best story but hey I'm tired! In other news I took a nap today! =] First time as of yet and I loved it! I also developed some film, which was nice. And I am slowly getting to know people in all my classes. My Book of Mormon reading is going well, I am constantly learning and I wouldn't trade this experience for the world. As for my other classes, they are quite dull but I don't mind.

I think my roommates want to go have crazy adventures this weekend. I am not sure as to what we will do since one roommate is going home and 2 of our guy friends are going home as well. Leaving 5 of us and Mikey and Taylor. So we shall see.

Oh! Wednesday night we had the guys over, just playing games and chatting and it was pretty fun =]

Other than that, it has been a slow, dull week. The weather is lovely and I am hoping to get more pictures in before it gets colder.

Maybe it is time for another nap.....=] I get to sleep in tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lesson learned...

Monday we (being all my roommates) decided to have a movie night. SO we went to Redbox and agreed upon "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" and "The Fourth Kind"......man did we make the biggest mistake ever. The two lamest, dumbest, just overall crappy movies I have ever seen. I wasted four hours of my life that I will never get back....but oh well. So the lesson here? We should always have our guy friends over because when we try to watch movies, we will kill our brains with stupidity whereas having guy friends over, we laugh and burn calories and actually enjoy life.

Yeah we learned our lesson; Bill and Brent come over pretty much daily even if it's only for an hour. Lucky for them, their dorms are pretty close so they can run back in time for curfew.

In other news Alisa turned 18 YESTERDAY!!! SO we made a crazy poster for her, and got 3 helium balloons! And we're having the party for her Friday night, with confetti cake and cream cheese icing and lots of guys...we don't really have any girl friends outside our own apartment....oh except this girl Nicole in our ward. She's pretty cool. And Katie came over and heart-attacked Alisa's room. For those that don't know, that means putting hearts everywhere! She also attacked the hallway, living room closet and front door...to leave a trail of course.

To add to the news, we changed out living room around (pictures up later). The long couch is in front of the closet because we don't really use it except to store stuff we won't touch until December. The table is where the long couch is and the little couch is in the corner where the table was. We got a red clock for our living room and Rachel found a red stand-up lamp for $3 at walmart and that is behind the little couch. We also got an Anberlin poster and a poster of Puss in Boots looking OH SO CUTE! So yeah our living room rocks now! and we got some fake flowers in a plastic vase for out kitchen table, to add a little color to it.

Oh and I made Pizza Chicken for dinner last night and it turned out great! Considering I was guessing on temperature and time, it was perfect and devoured by all, along with steamed broccoli and shell noodles. =]

Today has been pretty dull so far, I overslept and woke up at 10am. I missed German but I am not too worried. We have yet to do anything big and today was the last day to change classes so we probably got more/less people. Photography was a nice review of F-stop and shutter speeds. And I started craving medium format because my teacher was comparing it to 35mm film...but that's okay, I still love photography.

I also started listening to my Ipod when I walk and love having a soundtrack to my life. Though sadly it makes me want to dance, but alas I can't without having people stare at me and for those who know me, I don't like to be the center of attention in crowds of people that I don't know...but yes music is awesome and gives me a little hop to my step, whether going to a class I like (which is all of them except American Foundations) or coming home from a slow class.

Mostly I am excited for my photography lab tomorrow, though we are only going over the camera and loading film I love hearing about it and knowing at least one other person can also speak my language of photography. That and shooting film is fun, it is a bit slower paced than digital and makes you think about what you are shooting. Sorry I am beginning to ramble...I could spend days in my own language and world but I will not bore you with things you don't understand.

I think I shall go make dinner now and maybe unload the dishes if they aren't already.

Oh one more bit of news! So my Book of Mormon teacher is challenging us tomorrow to read the Book of Mormon in two weeks. Now lift your jaw from the floor and before you say or think "Are you crazy?" Though yes I am, that is not the reason and does not relate to why I am doing this. But I figure, I was able to read 100 pages a night of The Fountainhead, Whethering Heights and other books, then why can't I do this with the scriptures? You say it is packed full of information and of course it is, but it too is a story and when we spread out the scriptures, sometimes it is hard to see the big picture. So I am really excited to try this, I know I can do it and can't wait to dive into the story head first. So I hope that gives you some clarity into my thoughts. And that will start tomorrow and I couldn't ask for a better challenge to help me grow.

Okay so forreal this time, I am off to make dinner, I am SOOOOO hungry!

College so far...

There is only one word I can think of to describe college so far, and that is:
SUPERFREAKINAMAZINGTASTICLYWONDERFULLYAWESOMENESS!!!

Yeah I just did that!

So just to recap from my last blog...

Friday I went to class, and my Book of Mormon class is freakin sweet! The teacher is amazing and the Spirit was felt so strongly. We watched a video and I hope all that read this will watch it too! It was inspiring and I want to find the actual talk so I can keep it w/ me at all times.

I wish I could say the same for my math class. Both will be lots of work, however I rather study the scriptures all day than do the gazillions of assignments for math. My teacher is pretty dull but I think I miiight.....learn something.....we'll see. Worse comes to worse, it'll be an easy A.

But on to the fun parts of my weekend. So Friday evening came around and Rachel, Alisa, Cacia and I had no plans! HOW SAD!!! So Keely and Nicole were nice enough to invite us to a party they were going to. So we were SOOOO excited, we got dressed up 3 hours beforehand....

To finish the story....we walked up and down this street trying to find the party. So we saw some HUGE speakers in a window, so we guessed that was it and we were right. It was a blast and we ended up being there for a little over an hour. We met a guy name Simba, yeah pretty cool right?

So when we were walking home, 3 guys and a girl were walking the other way. And suddenly two of them laid down in the middle of the sidewalk....we still don't know what on earth they were doing...but afterward the other guy friend started laughing really hard.....so anyway we came back to the apartment and watched 17 Again with Aaron, Jameson, Trevor and Jake and maybe more guys....I can't remember...

So Saturday Alisa, Cacia, Rachel and I went shopping and got some groceries and a welcome mat that says "Got dirt?" and a cute little rainbow striped rub for our living room. It is quite cute! And brightens up our home. =] We did homework and then decided to go to Jamba Juice and we wanted to go stargazing....but in 30 minutes, the temperature dropped 20 degrees....so we went to the Temple and took pictures! The second this picture was done, we booked it to Rachel's car and headed home and watched ELF with all our roommates and Brent, Mikey and Bill. And played the "HAHA" game. Well, watched some people play. It is where you put your head on someones' stomach until you make a circle. Then you go in a circle saying "HA" without laughing, the next person adding another HA until someone laughs....it always failed at Keely's turn.

So today we went to interviews with the bishopric so they that can give us callings next week. Then we came home and watch Errand of Angels. We went to church and come to find out, Simba is in our ward! How cool is that?? Yeah, so we came home and Bill and Brent came over to make us dinner.

They are both freshmen and have pretty much never cooked a day in their lives...but it's okay, Alisa and Nicole supervised. They made us chicken enchiladas! And they ended up tasting really good!!!

Short and Sweet, Basically this is where it's at!

Sooo......I'm way tired from walking around campus in the freezing rain today so short and sweet tonight.

SO basically we've had guys over every day this week! Monday was Matt & Dustin. Tuesday was Jake. Wednesday was Trevor, Aaron and Jameson and tonight was Harry, Nick, Chris and 2 other guys that I can't remember their names. But all of um are pretty crazy awesome! So yeah fun week.

Tonight we had an apartment night with just us 6 girls. Keely, Nicole, Rachel, Alisa, Cacia and I =] We made brownies, went to Little Caesar's in our pjs in Keely's little car (with AWESOME subs though) jamming to music and goofing off. Then watched Jurassic Park.

Oh and while those 5 guys were over and another girl, our Bishopric all showed up, so we had 16 people in our little living room, but it was fun.

So time for bed, no classes until 2pm tomorrow. =]

No Pictures, but good stories

So today we embarked on some crazy adventures, some would dare say BOLD, RIDICULOUS and downright SILLY. But all the same it was quite fun. So we (being Cacia, Rachel, Alisa and I) started out our day with pancakes. Cacia made them and though we had to eat them in about 30 seconds, they were quite delicious. Wonderful breakfast to begin a day of adventure!

We went to Get Connected which is pretty much EFY for freshmen college students. Get Connected is decently cool. We played lots of games, bonded and all that great stuff. Actually we did have a wonderful devotional; by President Clark today about living the standards. So we had our physical boost and out spiritual boost for the day before playing silly games and eating hamburgers. (Aka Cookout, NOT BBQ! Crazy Westerners! JK love um anyway). So after HOURS of games we were allowed to go home. We hung out and started a movie. I am not quite sure if it was due to my roommates lack of confidence in my persistence or boldness but I took the initiative! And told Jake to come over to give us a tour of the campus. =]

(Just to back up for a moment so the rest of the story doesn't get TOO confusing...) So my family flew to Utah, Saturday morning, but we had a layover in Texas. Now being up for 12 hours, running on 5 hours of poor sleep and sitting in a noisy plane for 3 hours makes you just a TINSY bit tired...so sitting in the airport, waiting on our flight, we met 2 RM's (Return Missionaries), fresh from out of the field. Now my family had talked and gotten to know the first one decently, and he was cool, but when the 2nd one came along, I was too tired to notice much except to smile and wave when I heard my name mentioned. So one flight later, getting off, the 2nd Elder was 2 seats on front of my family and as we were getting off. he turned around and handed my mom a piece of paper (meant for me) that says "If you (aka ME) need any help, os someone to show you around. You can call my parents house and they will pass your message......JLH P.S. Or to have fun as well. Up to you. Good luck. JLH"

So I held on to the paper, not really knowing what to expect, so I let it go Saturday and Sunday and finally Monday I decided to facebook stalk him and added him that way, because calling would be too awkward. Could you imagine that conversation? "Uh hello? Yeah so this is Megan, I met your son in the Dallas airport, and he offered to help me around campus..." Yeah not weird at all.....Thank goodness for Facebook.

So we chatted on there and I gave him my number for when he finally got his phone later that day. We chatted and agreed he could come up today to show me and my roommates around. So back to the adventure! So I guess my roommates didn't think I would actually invite him, and if you had went back a year ago....I probably wouldn't have. But what did I have to lose? To be shown around campus by a cute RM? Yeah like I was gonna pass that up...so I invited him over and about half way through our movie "KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!!!" He came in and sat down. We swapped names and all that fun stuff but ended up just getting into a long conversation for 2 hours (Alisa came in and out so she missed most of the conversation). It was fun and we all got along quite well. But he had to go run an errand but promised to come back in an hour and give us the tour. And so an hour and a Regina Spektor hair style, and Rachel's plans for her first date, later we went on the tour. (Yeah so my hair was curly and we mentioned Rachel had never been on a date before so he told her Friday she was going to have her first! How cute! And apparently I might be doubling with them, I dunno who I'm going with though...I think he has a friend or something he's bringing....we'll see...)

When he arrived the second time we had started to make dinner and our roommates started moving in. We were kinda rushed so we threw some chicken and spices in the crock-pot and veggies in the steamer. And Jake was so nice to help the 2 other girls bring all their stuff in while we worked on dinner. (We have SOOOOO MUCH FOOD!)

So the campus is small and cute and reminds me of NC in April right now. For all those who understand, it's 70 degrees with a GAZILLION flowers! GORGEOUS! SO yeah we walked around being our goofy selves. After finishing, Jake (That's his name FYI) offered to drive us around Rexburg to show us some stores and places we might want to check out.

He brought us back and we said our goodbyes until Friday. With heads spinning, and lack of space on the counter due to new roommates bringing TONS more food, we ate our little hobo dinner in Alisa and Cacia's room. With our plates and cups, we blessed our meal and ate it happily with our little family. (Oh and we didn't get much sleep last night due to bonding and lucky Jake left when we did) So half way through dinner, our sleepiness hit us and we all went loopy, laughing at EVERYTHING, literally! Oh the memories we are building....

So we rushed over to the talent show with our group. It was pretty sick! I won't go into details tonight but basically, amazing voices, beat boxing, rapping, remixing, single ladies and great classic songs.

Now we are home and...crap I was hoping to be out an hour ago.....oh well.....now off to rest and finish our Get Connected stuff.

So yeah, crazy day between touring campus, Rachel getting her first date with a cute RM, our first hobo hyper dinner and new roommates, it goes to show, you never know what will happen when you take the initiative and reach out! So don't be shy, if you get a cute guys number, call him! You might get a free tour and a date out of it!

My thought process in a few minutes

I am hungry....But why am I hungry? I just ate dinner *looks at clock* oh I guess an hour ago. But Chase says my stomach is the size of my fist *makes fist* dang it....I have tiny hands. That doesn't sound right, otherwise I over eat WAAAY too much....that or food compacts into a third of the size that it starts out as. Speaking of fractions, I need to work on those recipes. Man I've been working or trying to work on those for...2 weeks now? Maybe less....and I'm only in the C's.....dang. Now I wanna make cookies! Oooo cookies! But they're more fun w/ friends. I'll make um tomorrow, but I also wanna hang w/ Kris and. get that camera from Anji.

Ah cameras! I haven't used mine in forever! OOO must take pictures this week, better remind myself *makes note on phone* Dang I have other stuff to do today too. Meh, I should stop blogging but I am so excited! Alisa finally added our roommates on facebook! Which makes me waaay too excited for college, ah college...stealing all my money but at least I have enough money for rent this fall, finally. What an accomplishment, I'm so proud of myself! =] Alright Megan, chill out that ego there. Ouch! Sunburn...yeah so if you go swimming and get sun burnt, just because it looks mostly gone the next day, doesn't mean you should go swimming again. Eh it's not that bad.

Agggh now I'm cold. Oh which reminds me, I finally learned my comfort zone is from 74 to 80 degrees =] Ah I like controlling temperatures. Uggh like when you go to a persons' house and it's negative 20 and you're shivering your butt off and they look at you like you're crazy because you are cold. Then you feel lame for feeling cold but you can't even go get a blanket because it's not your house and you can't feel your feet anyway! That's why I bring a jacket or 2 to church, and I am going to Idaho......I Am Brilliant......yeah that's it, brilliant.

Well now I am cold and will actually work on those recipes for college........................ooo I bet Catherine will make cookies with me when she gets here! Her and Jesse come Wednesday!!!! Yayayayayayay!!!
