Skills of a Moose

In the past week I have somehow managed to injure myself repeatedly. I think my subconscious is mad at me.

I burned 2 of my fingers on the frying pan making chicken.

My hand got scratched when playing with Moose (my roommate's sister's dog).

I got grass rash from playing with said dog.

Burned the bottom of my foot walking across the pavement home from church.

And did this to my finger while trying to put on a skirt:

And this picture makes it look pretty.

(Story behind the title of this post is that when we were going to go get the puppy and play in the park, our friend Matt thought my roommates were referring to me as "Moose" from some strange reason. So I am Moose apparently O.o)

So yeah my subconscious hates me. Oh well.

On a side note we had story time last night! A different friend of ours named Matt decided to read to Apt 309, me, Nikki, the other Matt and Stirling and some other random passersby.
And I got sat on by Stirling, so thoughtful.
We heard "Wodney the Wat" and "The Missing Piece Meets the Big O".
It was lovely =]
The end!

Just kidding.
I went and got to hang out with Albert for a little bit and chat it up with him =D =D =D
And then his roommates gave me food and drink.
They are nice.
The End (again).

Can this semester never end?
And let's start calling koolaid "drink"
Want a pot of hot koolaid?
I made this for you!

If I Never Left

I would be completely happy.

Y'all, I have fallen in love.

I thought I would never be able to love any other mountains other than the Appalachian mountains. Given, I still love the Appalachian mountains the MOST, but the Tetons are now a close 2nd. They are BEAUTIFUL! And to prove it to you, I will show you some pictures, though they don't do them justice.

This was on our ride to Wyoming.
Though this is not the Tetons, it was still rather pretty.

Oh how I have missed the greenery!

Green, green, green!

The Grand Tetons!

A close view.
Yes that is snow.

So pretty that I had to show them twice!

Even closer from the campsite.

We were right next to an overflowing river.
It was beautiful.

And there were trees!
LOTS AND LOTS OF TREES!! (I was a happy camper!)
And yes that is snow at the bottom of the picture.
Those trees were extremely tall, I felt right at home.

The river ran through the camp grounds.

I feel Aaron would have loved this.
Trees fell to make natural bridges that Nikki and I crossed several times.
And had a cute little waterfall.
At night we had skits and a bonfire.
And it was amazing!

We got to explore, have a devotional, eat s'mores and I had my first roasted Starburst.
They were so good that I ate 10 or so of them. =D
And then David threw marshmallows at me from across the campfire. I couldn't see who it was and I was mad at first, but later he told me it had been him and then Nikki and I helped him throw marshmallows at other people.

This morning I woke up because the smoke alarm went off (we were in a lodge, fake camping I know, but no cellphone service nonetheless) and the girls who actually heard it decided the rest of us were not allowed to sleep since they couldn't. =/

Have I ever told you that I HATE being woken up by people?
Well now you know.
I think it is because I'm already NOT a morning person, so I'm not happy, but if I set an alarm then I have no one to be mad at for waking me up but myself. But if other people wake me up, then I blame them for ruining my peaceful slumber. I promise if you ever wake me up, I will glare at you the rest of the day.

In other news- we had a delicious breakfast of eggs, hash browns, pancakes, fruit and BACON!
After breakfast Nikki and I played Frisbee with David, Kendal, Drew, Yazan (sp?) and some other people who came in and out. It was fun and I actually did well, though I throw better with my left hand, odd huh?

We then did a service project. My group set up tents, though it was more of setting up 3 tents in the same spot but the first 2 didn't fit the frame so we put up and took down several tents. Afterword we had a lovely lunch and went home.

I was really sad to leave. Mostly I was dreading civilization and having cellphone reception. If cellphones weren't so vital in communication, I would probably throw mine out. I loved being able to leave it off for a day or two.

Anyway, off to polish up my talk (I'm speaking tomorrow in church) have a great night!

A Scar Is Just A Battle Wound that Tells a Tale of Earlier Days

Today I faced something worse than 50 dirty diapers in a row.

Worse than a 6 year old walking out, crying, covered in his own puke, relying on you to fix and clean up everything.

Worse than cramps.

Worse than a hurting stomach.

Worse than needles

.......maybe.........

A crockpot full on pineapple pieces in a juice that has been sitting there for so long that mold was covering the top.

I got to drain it and then throw the moldy pineapple pieces in the trash.

I will NEVER forget that smell. EVER. NEVER. EVER. EVER. EVER. EVER. EVER. EVER!

I will be a happy woman if I NEVER have to smell that smell EVER AGAIN.

I thought I was going to vomit there and then and it took all my strength to not pass out and/or run away screaming out of pure horror.

I am scarred for life.

That being said, my apartment is clean and the kitchen ACTUALLY looks sanitary! You should have seen it this morning. It made Albert's kitchen look spotless......love you Albert. =]

Now go enjoy this song.

And be happy that you didn't have to clean a crockpot full of mold.

Time to attempt to eat lunch. =]

My room is clean
The bathroom is clean
The kitchen is clean
Everything is clean
Cleanliness is next to Godliness.

Bad Breathe, Yet So Good

Today took an unexpected turn for the better. I had class, homework, a group project and then I was at home and Camilo popped up on facebook and said we should hang out. I said I couldn't because I had homework and after MUCH pleading (kidding) he convinced me to take my homework over to his apartment and keep him company.

I worked rather diligently and got 2 assignments done before him and his roommate Martin convinced me to go to Applebees with them. They offered to pay and who am I to reject free food and good friends? We picked up another friend of theirs from my stake dance, where I happened to see my roommates. Sadly we were too far away to talk to them.

We went to Applebees and had a lovely time eating appetizers. Spinach & Artichoke Dip, Chips & Spicy Chipotle Lime Salsa and Queso Blanco. It was DELICIOUS! Then I came home, finished my art homework and got to talk to Robert =D =D =D =D I haven't talked to him in awhile and yet we picked up like it was only yesterday. He's pretty much amazing.

In other news my stomach stopped hurting! YAYAYAY!!! Thanks Albert for the Vitamin C tablets, they definitely helped.

The smell of my new shampoo makes me want to gag. Drama clean? More like make you nauseous and sick for the next 3 days, not to mention drying your hair out like crazy. =/ Guess who is never buying that scent again? Back to my old scent soon hopefully. =]

Oh and now I am getting chewed out about not going to the dance. But seriously, get stuck dancing with weirdos? Or go eat free food with friends? Pretty simple choice there......WEIRDOS! Kidding. Oh well.

Have a great week!

Sorry there are no pictures. I'll try to do a photoshoot this weekend so I have something to post. =] Plus I can always use the practice. I have some candidates in mind. ;D

1st time at Applebees
Surprisingly satisfied
I like painting
I'm a work of art when I'm done
It's awesome!
Color me art major!

A Happy Morning Indeed

I got to sleep in for the first time in a week! =D Heck this is the first time I have gotten more than 6 hours of sleep in a night since.........awhile.........art homework is to blame....xP

I know this picture looks somewhat depressing but it is a happy, welcoming sight to me.

Just a short little update, I went to Matt's soccer game (guy in my ward that Nikki likes) last night with Nikki. Come to find out they were playing Tyler B (Albert's roommate)'s team. So though I originally came for Matt for Nikki, I ended up cheering for Tyler. But if you saw Tyler you would understand. He is adorable. Yes I just called an RM adorable, but if you knew him....he is so skinny and little......(Yes I realize I have no room to talk) but he's adorable. Just trust me on this one. It's okay because Tyler's team won anyway and Nikki got asked out on a date for Friday by Matt. So everyone won last night.

Now to eat some lunch! =D

Oh and someone was playing Beethoven's 5th Symphony this morning. It made me happy! =D And miss dad and Aaron.

I've got a lovely bunch of cocoanuts
do-da-lee-do
There they are all standing in a row,
bom-Bom-BOM
big ones, small ones, some as big as your head,
(And bigger)
give em a twist, a flick of the wrist,
that's what the showman said....

I Just Came To Say Hello

This weekend has been incredible! Everything about it was wonderful! I will do my best to give you a run down of it without leaving out too much.

Friday I went to the temple and it was wonderful, best way to start off a day. Not to mention the weather was lovely. Then that night, Kaylin, Tyler M, Jaide, Emily, Tyler B, Stirling, Nikki and I went and saw X:Men First Class at the drive-in. I recommend seeing it! =D

After a lovely time watching the movie, we (minus Tyler M and Kaylin) went to Porter Park. We swung on the swings, played freeze tag, where I slid and fell from being chased by Stirling (like I said, don't try to back track in flats on wet grass...not smart). I died laughing when I ate it, and it was completely worth the stains.

We sort of attempted the whipped cream game and it landed on my forehead. Good thing it was dark and no one could see too well.

Saturday like I said, I had 2 photoshoots. One of Cacia and her roommates and then one of Camilo's friend. Check out the ones of Cacia and her friends here. They were dressed as fairies and a blast to work with. More will be put up later. I'm still working on downsizing my favorites list. Went from 672 to 152. Getting there slowly but surely. For the record, these are unedited. I have this thing where I believe pictures should be as natural as they can be and only minor touch ups should be made.

This is one of my favorites. This is an all natural picture, no editing done.
(Below: Andrea and Stephanie, click to enlarge, it looks better bigger)

And this is my other favorite. This is Cacia and Stephanie.

But yes, taking pictures was heaven to me. I love everything about it. Working with the people, trying new things and loving it all. I just wish I didn't have back problems making me have to quit after 5 hours of taking pictures, but still worth every minute of it.

Today we had church, though I had a hard time staying awake. After church Albert and I had dinner with our cousin Stephanie and her husband. It was lots of fun and the food was heavenly. We played hacky sack, some wii and did a puzzle (I thought of you mom <3).

Then I came back home for Sunday Night Dessert (SND) where we had more people than ever before and made homemade oreos. Fun was had by all but the real fun was when the numbers died off. Matt tricked Brett into eating a cookie filled with Crisco instead of icing. Brett ate it all. It was quite enjoyable to watch.

I gave 2 guys, Matt B (Not pictured) and Tom Bugg (He's one of those people you have to say his first and last name, just the way it is) piggy back rides. Matt is easily 150lbs I think and Tom is not far behind him. Yes I gave THEM piggy back rides. Who is beasty? That's right, ME!!!

They were impressed and so was I. Then Tom gave Nikki and I a piggy back ride together and then Matt gave all 3 of us a piggy back ride. We are full of beastiness! =D

After settling down somewhat, Matt, Tom, Conrade, Emily, Nikki, Jaide and I all sat around talking about our biggest fears and terrible/funny experiences. It was a blast!

All in all tonight was wonderful and this weekend was amazing. Best weekend ever!

Hope you all had equally amazing ones

I just came
to say hello
and eat some Crisco

Another What A Great Day!

I had 2 photoshoots today back to back and let me tell you, there are few things in this world that make me happier than taking pictures. I had a wonderful time shooting Cacia and her roommates. They were a blast to work with, as well as doing headshots for Camilo's friend for her dance thing.

After at least 5 hours of taking pictures, then coming back to have a wonderful evening chatting it up with my roommates and Albert stopping by, and gorgeous weather. Oh and Skyping Hannah and Lizzy. Today was amazing! Almost as good as yesterday, but still amazing none the less.

Have to laughed
until you cried
today? I hope so!

What A Day!

Well technically evening.....anywho. My roommates and I and some friends went to the Drive-In here in the Burg and saw X:Men First Class. It was AWESOME!!! And then we played games in the park and now my hand is bruised and I have a giant grass stain down my pants and it was COMPLETELY worth it! Nikki will say I was tackled but I just slipped on the wet grass. Don't run in flats my friends.....bad idea......just saying.

Anyway I might tell you more about it later, it was quite an interesting night for sure. Gotta say a good end to my birthday. Man and to think I was at the temple this morning.....that seems like AGES ago.

Anyway I am off to bed, I have 2 photoshoots tomorrow. Oh and check out the pictures on facebook that my friend Glen did of me for his studio photography class! =D

Have a good night
eat some whipped cream
drink some code red
and get some grass stains
It's worth it

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!

Not that being 19 is anything particularly special but all the same I am grateful for my 19 years of life and my wonderful parents that gave me life and a GREAT one at that. Thank you mom and dad! Also for all of my siblings even though Albert originally wanted me to be a boy...I forgive you Albert and I hope I've made up for that with all the cookies I've been making lately.....if you even got any of them.....O.o I'm sorry your roommates are all fatties, despite your twiggy figures.....skinniest group of boys/men I EVER did see! O.o

Anyway, yes it is my birthday and I am running on very little sleep, but that is because I got to go to the temple today with my ward. How wonderful! Can you think of a better way to spend the morning of your birthday? Sadly I missed humanities because I didn't get out until 8am (my class starts at 7:45 and it's at LEAST a 10 minute walk there with your hair wet....yeah......

So I went home and took a nap and then went to English. I know, not very exciting.....

But it's okay! My roommates entertained me with a water fight.....MOSTLY outside of our apartment......just don't sit on our carpet and you won't notice.....yeeahh.......and tonight my roommates and some friends and I are going to see the new X:Men at the drive-in theater here =D I'm excited! And we MIGHT make cake before hand? Who knows. O.o

Yeah I don't really do the party thing. I'm older and all the birthday wishes make me feel as special as I want to feel. I kind of have some problems with being the center of everyone's attention.....I don't like it.

But yeah HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!! Sorry to all those that I can't be with to share my special day with but you are all in my heart and I think of you often.

Love you all! Thanks for making me feel special, without y'all I wouldn't be the person I am today.

Have a wonderful day!

Just a Thought

Looking at my homework for the week, I am beginning to realize I am not a "go-with-the-flow" kind of girl. I am the "there 10 minutes early for class" kind of girl and I like knowing this is due then and this is how I will order my schedule accordingly.

Now yes I realize I sound like a stick in the mud, and maybe I can be sometimes, but I do some things at the last minute. This really only applies to hanging out with people though. When it comes to my school work I cannot just "go with the flow".

The reason I bring this up is because looking at my art homework, this is one of the biggest assignments we have had yet and it is also my "midterm" assignment. Yes I may be "artsy" but I like to think my art is and should always be behind a camera lens. That is where I am happy and comfortable. These drawing and painting classes are challenging me as an artist to try things I have never done before. I am appreciative of it, but at the same time it is scary.

I'm starting to wish I was a little more laid back and didn't stress so much, but this is the way I am.

Lately I haven't been as laid back social wise though. I feel I have been turning opportunities down to have lots of fun because they are out of my comfort zone and I always have some homework eating at me in the back of my mind.

So here's to change and trying something new. Let us all step out of our comfort zone and either "go with the flow" more or be less "go-with-the-flow" and more "get-to-class-early" kind of a person.

Have a wonderful day!
Go call someone you haven't talked to in awhile.
It will make you happy
(I hope)

Pets Are People Too

This weekend has been one of the best weekends all semester, maybe by far THE best weekend of the semester? Why you may ask? Because of 4 reasons, family, puppies, friends and perfect weather.

Saturday Catherine and Jesse came to visit and Albert came over and the 4 of us went on a picnic.

Below is Albert in front of the Rexburg, Idaho temple.Yay for big brothers!

And of course my dear pregnant sister, Catherine =]
She thinks she is Asian...
And Jesse did not want to be photographed =[

Party pooper! xP It's okay, we still love him.

After a wonderful picnic with everything delicious and no spills, we took Catherine and Jesse to the I-Center to show them our "small and moderate" renovations to the campus. (P.S. It looks like a mini version of the conference center and holds 15,000 I believe, See below).I sit on this far left section, up towards the front normally for devotional (from 2-3pm every Tuesday).

And after a lovely day of fun, they departed back to where they were staying.

Sunday, however; Emily brought her sister's puppy over to play for the day. His name is Moose!

And Kaylin climbed up the balcony and caught Mini Wheats in her mouth from the floor above.

Isn't he so cute? (Please ignore the pasty leg that may or may not be mine...)

We played fetch with him, and ran with him.

And cuddled him when he was tired.

And made him soar like Superman!

He has this thing that when Emily laid down, he had to go lay by her head. I am not quite sure why, but it was cute.

I played with him lots!

Catherine and Jesse came for awhile and played with us, but alas they had to return back to Provo. =[ but I will see them in 6 months time.

On a happier note, Nikki and I made cookies.

And a guy in our ward stopped by and asked if we were coming to make s'moreos (s'mores in oreos) but we were not invited, so he invited us. We said we might came after we finished baking.

But since we didn't come over right away, he brought us a s'moreo and it was delicious!

And then we gave him a hot out of the oven cookie.

But then didn't want the rest of said cookies.

So we took them over to Albert's apartment.

He would've gotten more if he had been home when we said he would, so Nikki and I waited around for an hour until he got home. No worries, his roommates kept us entertained.

Nikki left after 45 minutes, but I continued to be entertained by apartment 203 (Albert's apartment) until him and Eric showed up.....with their nails painted.....

.....no comment.....

Needless to say, I quickly went back to my apartment and brought back acetone and cotton balls.....

And then enjoyed hanging out over there until curfew and I had to return to my home.

But all in all it was a great day.

I was able to spend most of the day outside and have lots of fun with family and friends.

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

I woke up 13 minutes before class started today
I got ready and left in 3 minutes.
Made it to class with 4 minutes to spare.
I am thankful for a roommate that wakes me up!
Love ya Nikki!

You Asked For This

Y'all have been asking what I have been doing in my art classes so here are some of the more "interesting pieces. The last 5 are the ones I just turned in for my Drawing I class. I still have homework for Color and Design to do tonight.

This first one is the first picture I ever drew for my Drawing I class and it makes me sad. I want to cry at how awful it it. *crying*
This was a triptych, meaning you have an image using darker values, one using light values and then one with a mix of both.

This is a 2-point perspective cube.

This is a 1-point perspective cube with a shadow based on the light source and relative point.

This is a construction drawing we had to do of a Vase. They gave us step-by-step instructions on how to do it and then 4 steps before the end they told us to erase the bottom half of the Vase and learn how to draw it correctly. It wasn't fun but I liked it afterward.

A teacup based on an image of one which I will not post because otherwise it makes this look rather crappy.

This was for my Color and Design class. We had to use organic textures.

And mechanical textures.

Then we had to find textures of stuff around the apartment. Notice most of these are from earrings. And an Oreo! =D

Color value scale.

This took forever! For Color and Design. (If it's in color, it is for Color and Design). I had to draw every single one of those squares. I will save you the time of counting them (both pages), there were 58, not to mention drawing more for mess ups and getting the right shade after attempting and failing several times for some of those. But yeah I'm proud of it because it took forever!

So you better love these!
Or ELSE!!!

And these are the ones I turned in for Drawing I last night.
Gray scales in graphite, ink and charcoal.

A cone in ink. Each line was drawn with a straight-edge (aka ruler). Well except for the base of the cone of course.
This was a cylinder in charcoal. It wasn't AS hard but VERY messy. I washed my hands pretty much after every picture.

The sphere in graphite. And the cube in charcoal. We've drawn LOTS of cubes so this was easy. I could draw a cube in my sleep perfectly.

The end. That is what I have been doing in my classes. The rest of the assignments were much less interesting.
(FYI the pictures of texture are all pictures I have taken).

THE END

My roommates just bought
11 goldfish
I wonder how long
They will last O.o

For the record

I think I am FINALLY done changing my blog background. I am completely loving this layout so it is a keeper. =] I MIGHT change that picture behind my title on occasion buuuut..... it took sooooo long it get it right that I PROBABLY won't.

I realized today that some of my socks actually match, and I am NOT okay with that. Thank you Hannah for showing me the ways of none matching awesomeness.

Now to do art homework.....*Shutters at thought*

But at least now I have a printer that I can scan all my homework in on....tee hee hee =D

And I had 30 minutes of class today because my teacher was gone and we met in groups and the other girls had to rush out do to homework. So yah. 30 minutes of class the whole day. Awesome right?

I guess I will show you my art projects when I am done, if I don't totally hate them and shred them into a million pieces after I turn them in....not that I would ever do that or anything.....

We have grape Koolaid
And I just discovered
I have rice and hot cocoa
And Rexburg is deciding to be windy today
How rude!
Meg

Do You Know What It Feels Like?

So my roommates have been playing this song LOTS lately, and by lots I mean 3 times. And I kind of love it though I am not sure why. It sounds like a 90's boy band but it's not. But you should go listen to it because it is stuck in my head and now I will do the same to you. Also it sounds like someone is hitting a ping-pong ball around throughout the whole song....but that MIGHT just be me.....

I am kinda loopy right now due to sitting in my room since at LEAST 7:30pm, probably more like.....6pm. But from 7:30pm on was homework. And guess what, charcoal is EVIL and smears TOO much and ink takes FOREVER! Have you ever tried to shade something with pen but you can only use straight ruler-guided lines to make it darker??????? It's not fun! But yeah me sitting in a room, in one spot for 6 hours is torture. You might as well give me a world without peanut butter. But don't because that would be AWFUL!!!!!!

The image to the right is what my bed has looked like for the past 6 or so hours. Yes that is "Bones" on my monitor. And in this image I am starting to work with charcoal making a gray scale. My hands were covered in graphite, ink and charcoal all night.

Don't think I am unhappy, not in the least. I am in a GREAT mood! But that might be the loopiness kicking in.......maybe I should go to bed....

Oh random news. I got a printer today as an early birthday present. Thanks mom and dad! And thanks Stirling (Revert back to the people chart) for finding someone to give me a ride to the Bookstore to go get it and thanks again to Stirling for carrying the printer for me. (It is handy being friends with your brothers' roommates). =D

Anyway, I am off to bed. I am going running in the morning. =D =D =D =D

Now go listen to this song as well!
Thank you Catherine for showing it to me.
I love it!
And then my roommate played it on the way to the store
And now I am in love with this band =D
It reminds me of Catherine's cute self =]
I feel I thanked lots of people tonight.
Well thank you all for being awesome
"and you keep being classy San Diego."
